"Id Software, the legendary development house best known for pushing the technological envelope with high-end games like Doom 3, is now setting its sights on lower-end gaming platforms.

The company said today that it will launch a new division called id Mobile. Spearheaded by Katherine Anna Kang and her husband, id co-founder John Carmack, the division will be responsible for creating and producing games based on new intellectual properties for mobile handsets and the Nintendo DS."
