Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo Tales review at Blogcritics.

"You live on an island where story time is the highlight of your day. You have feathers, clawed feet, and a gang of friends who have been kidnapped. Luckily, your lack of vocal chords and opposable thumbs don't stop you from taking on the ultimate evil in Square Enix's Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo Tales for Nintendo DS."

Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo Tales review at Gamer 2.0.

"November 30,2007 - While critics have pretty much lost count on how many Final Fantasy games have been released, it's really tough to say that the series has been milked--at least in North America anyway. It's not like Square has decided to put your favorite Final Fantasy characters in kart racers or anything like that, but now we have a game that totally throws the series off its engines for a bit in Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo Tales. The game appears to look like it's intended for younger audiences, but it just might be a little too hard for that."

Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo Tales review at PALGN.

"What do Joanie Loves Chachi, Joey and AfterMASH have in common? No, they are not just all crap television shows – they were all spun off from more popular shows (Happy Days, Friends and M.A.S.H. respectively). The spinoff is usually an attempt to capitalise on the popularity of one piece of media by quickly coming up with a similar concept and hoping that your current audience will also consume the new product. As pointed out with our opening example, spinoffs are usually garbage, but there are exceptions – Frasier was spun off from Cheers and…uh…yeah. Spinoffs are not a new concept to videogames either – the Wario Land series spun off from the Super Mario Land series on the Game Boy. Square-Enix are certainly no strangers to the concept of spinoffs; many a disgruntled Final Fantasy fan will remember the rather horrid Chocobo’s Dungeon and Chocobo Racing titles released for the PlayStation in the aftermath of Final Fantasy VII. Fortunately their latest spinoff effort, Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo Tales is actually quite a bit better than one might have expected."

Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo Tales review at Cubed3.

"Whilst Final Fantasy may have a massive following around the world, the yellow Chocobo from the long running role-playing game series that help to transport characters across the gaming terrain without hassle from enemies is not quite as well-known, or at least popular, in the West. However, in Japan it has a sufficient amount of followers to warrant Square Enix giving it a few different game outings, such as a couple of dungeon crawling adventures that have had middling success to date. But now the feathered friend is back in a whole new DS game that promised to be a full-on RPG experience for the whole family. Does it manage to live up to expectations, though? That is what we are here to find out…"
