"We wanted it, we asked for it, and now we got it. In last year's review of FIFA Soccer 07 for the Nintendo DS, we gave the game a well deserved thumbs up for its continuing evolution of soccer on the handheld, but we noticed one thing missing: online support. With the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection growing in support in late 2006, it was a little disappointing to see that Electronic Arts and its DS developers hadn't yet jumped enthusiastically into the online arena for the portable. That's all changed in 2007, and FIFA Soccer 08 puts much of its attention into supporting worldwide competition over the Internet. But that year in development also means tweaks to the core game mechanic, which means much tighter gameplay and a more thorough soccer experience."

"It's a football match in your pants and everyone's invited! Everyone with a Nintendo Wi-Fi connection, that is. This is sophisticated button-bashing football at it's finest. Throw in the ultra-portability of the DS and some Wi-Fi online gaming goodness, and you now have 2 more things to make this game an even tastier treat! Welcome to FIFA 08 on the DS. You've got teams from every major league out there, including our own A-League here down under, and you've got them all in the palm of your hand."

"You and a friend. AFC Bournemouth versus Manchester United to decide the Champions League final. Sam Vokes hitting the bar when it's easier to score. Neil Young hacking down Ryan Giggs and getting sent off. Then sudden death penalties after a nervy half-hour of extra time. Your Red Devil-devoted ex-friend finally moping off in a sulk. This is FIFA at its best."

"EA had a heavy DS presence at the Leipzig Game Convention last week and as we stumbled round its stand (which had an unusual layout consisting of concentric rings, each lined with PCs, consoles and DS Lites), one of the first games we came upon was FIFA 08 on DS.
So arming ourselves with stylus and notepad, we laced up our metaphorical boots and launched into a kickabout."
