The Sims 2: Castaway review at Cubed3.

"The Sims 2 Castaway is the sort of game that you feel total indifference towards. It isn’t hugely offensive, nor is it hugely wonderful, it just bundles along at a steady pace doing nothing to either irritate or annoy. And this, in itself, is dull. The basic premise is simple. You get stuck on an island in the middle of nowhere and you have to survive and stop your Sim from going insane, wetting themselves, collapsing, etc. So all EA have done is move things over to and island and confuse the whole thing by shoving it on the DS."

The Sims 2: Castaway review at Pocketgamer.co.uk.

"Being washed up on a desert island is never going to be a good thing. Unless you're taking part in TV series Shipwrecked, of course, and are therefore in for three months of dossing around in the company of impossibly attractive teenagers of the opposite sex wearing nothing but skimpy swimsuits and a garland of flowers.

All other scenarios are unlikely to be as pleasant. And the one you find yourself in at the start of The Sims 2 Castaway isn't to be recommended: after your cruise ship sinks like a modern-day Titanic, you wake up on a deserted beach. Deserted but for some driftwood and a few coconuts trees, anyway."

The Sims 2: Castaway review at IGN.

"We wish we could say an adventure game about being trapped on a deserted island was a great original idea. Balancing basic needs with exploration is an obvious choice for an adventure title, so obvious that it's been done before... twice. Still The Sims 2: Castaway, developed by Full Fat, creates a survival-adventure that is less about actual survival, and actually manages to be fun, despite it's flaws."

The Sims 2: Castaway hands-on at Pocketgamer.co.uk.

"Who wouldn't love a three-month break in the Pacific? Sunny beaches, hula garlands and drinks from a hollowed-out coconut... But be careful what you wish for – you may just get it with a twist that's more than just lime.

A tropical vacation isn't as enjoyable when, say, it's spent as a cruise ship castaway. Indeed, there are only sun-baked beaches and dried-up coconuts in The Sims 2: Castaway, the survival spin-off that puts the life of a Sim in your hands."

The Sims 2: Castaway preview at IGN.

"At EA's recent Studio Showcase 2007, IGN was able to see a variety of upcoming titles from EA's various development teams. One of those titles was The Sims 2: Castaway from Full Fat, the folks that brought you The Sims 2: Pets. Castaway, however, is a new Sims experience with a dramatically different feel and style than the traditional Sims games. We had the opportunity to watch a hands-on demo of title, and Castaway appears to offer a rather unique experience in comparison to the other console versions being released."
