Warhammer 40k: Squad Command preview at 1up.

"It will be Space Marines vs. Chaos Space Marines this November when Warhammer 40,000: Squad Command ships. A straight-up strategy game with no hero player characters to rely on, Squad Command has you directing a team of elite soldiers. You unlock 20+ weapons as you advance, and are able to forfeit action points (movement and accuracy potential) for extra ammo, so your team will not feel powerless. The DS version gives you the option of stylus control, but contrary to what you might expect, the face buttons seem to be the more natural, easy way to play."

Warhammer 40k: Squad Command hands-on at IGN.

"Warhammer 40,000 is a daunting game to say the least. Maybe it's the epic battle scenarios, the apocalyptic storylines or the big number attached to the name, but something about it just seems to exude epic in generous amounts. The strategy game is coming to the Sony PSP and the Nintendo DS in a month or so in the form of Warhammer 40,000: Squad Command, and THQ let us give it a test run."

Warhammer 40k: Squad Command preview at 1-up.

"Warhammer 40,000 (or 40K as it's known) holds an unrivaled place at the top of tabletop miniatures games. The combination of its unique art stye that melds fantasy with distant-future sci-fi, and deep rules for combat helped make it a fan favorite. Dawn of War finally gave PC gamers a videogame version that did the franchise justice. Now with Warhammer 40K: Squad Command THQ hopes to duplicate that feat on the DS and PSP."

Warhammer 40k: Squad Command hands-on at Pocketgamer.co.uk.

"While strategy games continue to eek out a healthy existence on PC, more and more are taking their turn on handhelds – literally. Warhammer 40k: Squad Command marks the Nintendo DS and PlayStation Portable debut for the franchise, offering a turn-based tactical approach to gameplay.

We went hands-on with the game during E3 in a private meeting with THQ.

Squad Command follows a new conflict between the Space Marines and their offshoot rivals, the Chaos Space Marines. You control a squadron of six Space Marines across a 15-mission single-player campaign, confronting cultists, daemons, and other units in the Chaos Space Marine army. Brand manager Adam King wouldn't go into further detail about the story, instead shifting the focus to the tactical elements that will permeate the game."

Warhammer 40k: Squad Command preview at Gamespy.

"Warhammer 40K: Squad Command was available for a quick peek at this year's E3, giving us the mixed blessing of being excited for a title we don't have nearly enough information on. Releasing on both the PSP and the DS, with graphical glamour and ease of control anchoring the respective platforms, Squad Command puts you in charge of small-scale Warhammer 40K combat as a Space Marine leader in single-player, and as either a Space Marine or Traitor Legion (Chaos Marines, if you must) leader in multi-player."

Warhammer 40k: Squad Command preview at Pocketgamer.co.uk.

"While our colleagues on the PSP side of Pocket Gamer's operations have already been blessed with screens of THQ's portable version of its Warhammer 40,000 license, it has taken E3 to get us the first DS examples of what's been described as a fast, action-packed combat game wrapped within the chipped battle armour of a turn-based strategy mechanic.

It seems to have been worth the wait however, with Warhammer 40,000: Squad Command looking like offering plenty of detailed options for the armchair general to ponder."

Warhammer 40k: Squad Command impressions at Gamespot.

"It was only a matter of time before a Warhammer strategy game found its way onto handheld systems. Sure enough, THQ is bringing one to the Sony PlayStation Portable and Nintendo DS, with Warhammer 40,000: Squad Command. We sat down with THQ and took a look at a recent build of their upcoming turn-based strategy game.

According to THQ, the game is a story-driven experience that will be virtually identical on both platforms. However, DS owners will get the added experience of controlling units with the touch screen, though the visuals will be somewhat pared down compared to the PSP release. Either way, in the campaign, you will command a team of up to six space marines in a series of 15 missions. In a few missions, you will get a chance to control imperial guards and grey knights, as well as a few vehicles. Most of your enemies will come from the Chaos faction, such as daemons and cultists."
